Sexing and Characteristics:

You can tell firstly by the hips. The hips are bulkier and does not taper into the tail on the male. The female’s hips are more pointy and taper into the tail nicely.

Mostly Active During:

Day

Substrate and Water Needs:

I like to use repti bed soil substrate. It holds moister well and looks attractive. As for watter I really really recommend a divider about 4" deep on one side of your terrarium. They love to "play" in the watter every once in a while. They will also spend alot of time in the watter when it comes shedding time

IMPORTANT!!!! They will only only drink running watter so you need one of the following. Either a fish bubbler in the watter to trick them into drinking, a pump and waterfall to keep watter moving, or a timed spray machine to make drips of watter they will drink. I personally recommend having all but it isn’t necessary. The best combo is the watter fall and a bubbler as they will sometimes bask under the waterfall

Lighting and UVB:

The most important thing this lizard needs is a hot zone and a cool zone. I recommend about a 90 degree F. basking zone and about 75 in the cool zone. I would make the cool zone over their watter. As long as they can regulate their own temperature they will do just fine. They are actually kinda easy that way. I would recommend putting a uvb strip florescent light over the cool zone to keep it well lit. At night either a red or black moon light can be used in the basking area.

Temperatures and Humidity:

Humidity needs to be high. either spray the entire enclosure regularly or use an ultra sonic fogger. Personally I recommend the fogger. it looks great and they love it.

Caging Provided:

They can do fine in a 30 gal single but I keep them in a 60 gallon with a top kit. They love to climb so give them plenty of room to climb. If you have more than one the males can get territorial but they seem to to well with any other type of reptile...

Diet:

Carnivorous

Description of Diet:

Mainly crickets about 2 times a week but every once in a while a pinky or hopper mouse as a treat is nice. They will eat just about any food that moves. they will not eat dead or un moving food.

Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:

Dust crickets every week or so.

Maintenance:

Spot clean substrate replace every 6 months. clean watter once a week cause they will defecate in it or get a canister style turtle watter filter.

Some Words on this Species:

This species is incredibly mellow when they are hand raised. They are so mellow, don’t be surprised if you find yourself poking at your lizard wondering if he is alive. You can also judge how content they are by their color. If they turn red they are either agitated stressed. any other color however is usually a sign of contentment or camouflager. Every now and then they will flip out a little and run all over their cage for no apparent reason. If you give em something to kill like a small hopper mouse or a fuzzy (depending on the size of your dragon) he should calm right down.
