Sexing and Characteristics:

Males have more swollen cloaca, and when in breeding condition they develop a sheen to their tails. Females are often plumper when viewed from above.

Mostly Active During:

Day

Substrate and Water Needs:

Mainly Aquatic, use aquarium rocks for the bottom and plant live/fake plants though live are better.
Use bottled water for your tank.

Lighting and UVB:

A blue fluorescent bulb will do fine

Temperatures and Humidity:

Like cool temps around 68F (20C) or a bit lower are ideal.

Heating and Equipment:

Filtration should be provided, but strong currents are best avoided. Under gravel filters are your best option.

Caging Provided:

I have an all water 10 gallon aquarium with live plants that houses 3 Newts all Fire Bellies and there is an aquarium cave.

Diet:

Omnivorous

Description of Diet:

Although my 3 newts eat mostly meat I have seen them nibble on the plants.

Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:

The plants provide enough nutrients.

Maintenance:

Change 1/3 of the water every 2 weeks.
