My viper loves small rats every 7-10 day. Use a feeding box so the snake doesn’t think every time its in its cage that it gets food. A box can be made simple using 3ft tall plywood with a 3ft 2x4 frame about $30 at you local hardware store.

Keep cage clean every 5 days take your viper out put it in a pillow case tie a knot at the top and place it away from anybody. Don’t use pine, newspaper works best. Always use a snake hook or tongs when taking a venomous snake out of it’s cage. NEVER FREE HAND A VENOMOUS SNAKE IT COULD COST YOU YOUR LIFE! The Gaboon Viper has 2 inch fangs when it is a full grown adult and a deadly venomous, so always have a friend around when working with a venomous snake.

Some Words on this Species:

Not a starter snake many kids and young adults have venomous snakes as pets because there cool to most people being cool is not worth your life! A bite from any venomous snake can cost you your life if its rear fanged or front fanged. If you don’t have at least 3 years of working with a venomous snake save your self the time the pain and maybe get a ball python.
