Substrate and Water Needs:

Keep a large water dish, because they may want to swim and or lay in the water. The substrate should be a mixture of Reptibark, moss, and a small amount of sand, depending on the size of the enclosure.

Lighting and UVB:

You should have a 100watt bulb on one side of the enclosure, on, for about 9 hours a day. A UVB bulb isn’t neccessarily needed, but it does bring out the true beauty of the animal.

Temperatures and Humidity:

Ridge tail monitors should be maintained at a temperature of 30-36 degrees Celsius (88-102 degrees Farenhiet) during the day and 22-27 degrees Celsius (73-82 degrees Farenhiet) at night. Thier should also be a basking spot as hot as 40-44 degrees Celsius (110-118 degrees Faqrenhiet).

Heating and Equipment:

You should have a basking branch, a large water bowl, large enough to completely submerge the animal, at least 8 inches of substrate, so the animal can burrow, a log, so the animal can hide, some vines on the back of the enclosure, so the animal can climb, and a food dish.

Caging Provided:

One or two adult specimens can be maintained in a enclosure that measures 108x54x54cm (48x24x24 inches).A single animalcan be housed in a 50 gallon terraium-81x40.5x40.5 cm (36x18x18 inches).

Carnivorous

Description of Diet:

In captivity, these animals will feed on crickets, mealworms, wax worms, and silk worms.
