Sexing and Characteristics:

A medium sized terrestrial gecko native to Afghanistan, Northern India, and possibly other similar areas. Wild type leos are typically yellow or brownish with many dark spots. Many color morphs are available, including,but not limited to: tangerine,hypo,carrot-tail, blizzard,patternless, albinos, bell albinos, snows, high-yellows, jungle, sunglow, and various mixes of these morphs.

Males have a v-shaped row of pores above the vent, ans two bumps below it. This is absent in females.

Mostly Active During:

Night

Substrate and Water Needs:

_ Reptile carpet, ceramic tile, newspaper, or paper towel

_ Shallow water dish

note: sand and other loose substrates may cause impaction and death if ingested, especially calcium sand

Lighting and UVB:


UVB isn’t require, but it may be a good idea to create a day-and -night cycle with a florescent light

Temperatures and Humidity:

Temperatures should be between 80 degrees F and 90 degrees on the warm side of your habitat, and between 70 and 80 on the other side. Humidity should be low. You need a:
_ Hygrometer

_ High range thermometer (2) one for each side

Heating and Equipment:

_ Night lizard heat bulb and lamp, an under-tank heating pad, heat tape, or a ceramic heat emitter
One side of the tank should be warmer than the other (see Temperatures) - this will help your pet digest.

_ Shallow water dish

_ At least 2 hiding spots- artificial “cave” or wooden hide spot, or you can make your own by cutting a gecko sized hole in a plastic container. One hide spot should be humid –this can be done by putting some moist moss or a damp paper towel in there

_ Food/ calcium dish

Caging Provided:

_ 10 gallon or larger aquarium or a reptile habitat with similar dimensions

_ screen cage cover

Diet:

Carnivorous

Description of Diet:

_ Crickets, roaches, or silkworms, and (optional) mealworms, waxworms, frozen pinkie mouse, or butterworms as a treat/ something to house them in

Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:

_ Food/water for feeder insects- slices of fruit or vegetables and, rat, mouse, commercial gut load, or chicken food, or bran meal
remove and replace uneaten food daily to avoid dangerous mold growth

_ Calcium powder for reptiles- provide in a dish or dust the feeder insects with the powder

_ Vitamin supplement for reptiles- dust the feeder insects with the powder separately from the calcium- ( dust with calcium on week days , dust with vitamins on weekends)

Maintenance:

Daily-
_ remove gecko droppings
_ feed young geckos daily- adult geckos can have one or two less feedings
_ remove uneaten food
Monthly
_clean/change substrate
