Sexing and Characteristics:

Bring your milksnake to a experienced vet to prob it. This species is very tame and rarely attempt to bite. Handling it more makes it use to you.

Mostly Active During:

Night

Substrate and Water Needs:

You may fill the tank with reptile bark, mulch or aspen shavings. (Never use cedar, redwood or pine). Make sure that the milksnake does not ingest the substrates when feeding it. Provide a small water bowl at the corner of the cage.

Lighting and UVB:

Not necessary. Milksnakes do not like light. They are most active at night.

Temperatures and Humidity:

70 to 80 at day. Cooler at night is okay.

Heating and Equipment:

Provide a heat pad at the bottom of the tank. Make sure that the water bowl does not spill while the heat pad is on as this can result in cracked glass. You can give it mineral water or aged water.

Diet:

Carnivorous

Description of Diet:

For young milksnakes, give them pinky mice and geckos. As they grow older, give them adult mice.

Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:

None needed.

Maintenance:

Remove the old substrates after one month or more and place the new substrates. Change the water bowl once a week.

Some Words on this Species:

This species is very gentle and tame species and rarely bite unless frightened. If taken with good care it may live for 20 years or more. Avoid handling it after it had just ate or it may bite. Always wash your hands after holding any reptiles.
