Sexing and Characteristics:

They can be real difficult to sex. Sometimes but not all the time males are slightly larger and have a larger build. Also if you see your lizard go to the bathroom look for the hemipenis.

Substrate and Water Needs:

Give them a diggable substrate. Such as bed a beast or organic potting soil. Give them about 6 inches of substrate.

Lighting and UVB:

Use three bulbs a heat bulb a uvb bulb and a night bulb.

Temperatures and Humidity:

Keep it at about 90 to 105 degrees. Keep the humidity at no less than 70 percent. They come from a tropical island around Australia.

Heating and Equipment:

N/A

Caging Provided:

For a single monitor i use a 40 gallon breeder tank. for a pair I use a 48/24/30high.

Diet:

Carnivorous

Description of Diet:

They eat all sorts of insects and rodents. Start them on crickets and superworms and switch them to pinkies and fuzzies. For there main diet they should be fed ground turkey and canned monitor food. Along with a occasional mouse.

Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:

Give there food a dusting of calcium twice a week and multivitamin once a week.

Maintenance:

Clean water daily. Spot clean daily. Do a thorough clean of the cage and substrate change every month.

Some Words on this Species:

A great starter monitor if yours is cbb. If wc can be very nervous and never calm down. Being a smaller monitor they can still give a nasty bite.
