Sexing and Characteristics:

Males will raise their dorsal fin in territorial disputes.

Substrate and Water Needs:

Zoo med desert reptisand is the perfect for them. Just slope it up to one end to make a land area, half and half is best. The water must be brackish water with a specific gravity of 1.005 -1.010 and at least 8 inches deep. They need some room to swim even though they spend 90% of their time on land. They canít be a divider like in most aqua-terrariums because they need a slope in order to exit the water to frolic about.

Lighting and UVB:

None needed.

Temperatures and Humidity:

75F - 80F is perfect for them. Subtropical to tropical conditions are best. Humidity levels are provided by the water and the sand, but occasional misting is ok.

Heating and Equipment:

A UTH is good for this application. It can only be under the land area though.

Caging Provided:

10 gallons is good for 1 mudskipper, 20 is good for 2 etc.

Diet:

Carnivorous

Description of Diet:

Crickets, small crustaceans like ghost shrimp, freeze-dried food.

Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:

None.

Maintenance:

Weekly 1/4 water changes, substituted with fresh, dechlorinated water. Once a month replace all the tank water with declorinated, brackish water and sift the substrate.
