Temperatures and Humidity:
Iguanas are tropical reptiles. They need a basking spot 90-95 degrees. The cage should be no lower than 80 degrees.
Humidity should be anywhere from 65-75%.
Heating and Equipment:
Iguanas have to have UVA and UVB lighting.I use zoo-med iguana light(5.0) and mercury vapor bulb.
Caging Provided:
My iguana(Kiwi) is a free-roamer.I had him in a 8x8x8 cage when his was little. But I have learned no iguana is happy caged.
Other veggies 40-45%-Green beans, orange-fleshed squashes (butternut, Kabocha), snap or snow peas, parsnip, asparagus, okra, alfalfa (mature, not sprouts),bell peppers, sweet potato, zucchini, yellow squash, carrots
Fruit 10% or less-Figs (raw or dried), blackberries, strawberries, raspberries, grapes, mango, melon (cantelope, honeydew, watermelon), papaya, banana, apple.
Also if you are unable to get greens(say if a hurricane hit) you could keep a thing of "Rep-cal iguana food" soak it in water or fruit juice. This helped alot when hurricane Katrina hit.
Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:
HerpCare Calcium Supplement is a great to put on a iguanas food 3 times a week.
Maintenance:
On a rating scale 1-10 a iguana would be a 10.I DO NOT recommend iguanas as "First reptile" pets..please buy a bearded dragon or a leopard gecko.Experienced reptile hobbyists should own iguanas.
Some Words on this Species:
I will always have a iguana in my life.Love em’.
