Sexing and Characteristics:

Males are usually brighter coloured ,larger and more broader headed then females.

Mostly Active During:

Day

Substrate and Water Needs:

Bark or mulch deep enough to burrow in is suitable for this Lizard.places to hide for this skink are a must.shallow wide dishes of water should be provided as these skinks occasionally like to lie in the water.

Lighting and UVB:

Use UV lighting 12-14 hours per day

Temperatures and Humidity:

Keep the Humidity level moderate to high by misting about once daily this species should not be kept wet or illness could result.80 - 85 degrees during the day 75 degrees at night

Heating and Equipment:

Use of a heat mat is recommended for 24 hour ground heat in the warmer months this can be taken down to use only at night.

Caging Provided:

Up to 3 Fire skinks can be housed in a 20 gallon vivarium without trouble(other then shortening their lifespans. for more then one skink 40-50 gallons should be provided .at least 20-30 gallons is recommended for your adult lizards.
Males should be housed separately.

Diet:

Omnivorous

Description of Diet:

crickets, mealworms and small amounts of fruit run through a food processor.Fore skinks are picky they may eat all mealworms one week and only crickets the next. offer earthworms as a treat they love them.they can also be fed Premium low-calorie canned dog food. Adults will sometimes eat pinky mice.

Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:

Calcium supplements are a must I use exoterra electrolize supplement for my skink.
Insects for adults should be dusted at every second or third feeding.

Maintenance:

Keep the Lizard happy and Give him places to hide of Fire Skink is sleeping don’t wake him up use a mist bottle instead of bathing as they can’t swim.( your dumb if you try to find that out yourself.)These skinks LOVE to burrow so let them.

These Skinks come from West Africa a friendly lizard for the most part. the lifespan of a Fire Skink can be anywhere from 10-20 years.for some reason mine likes to squeak
