Other Species or Phases this Care Sheet May Cover:

Jungle Carpet Phythons

Sexing and Characteristics:

Takes a certified herpoligist to probe for sexing

Mostly Active During:

Both

Substrate and Water Needs:

I have found that this species doesn’t like water a whole lot. You do however need to offer fresh water daily. I use a vitamin substitute taht you can also add to the water. They LOVE IT!!!!!!! As for the substrates, you can use newspaper, soft felt carpeting, I use sheets. You can make it a very nice and keep it fresh inside their cage.

Lighting and UVB:

I use a 25 Watt bulb for a basking area on one side. Unerneath that side i put the water bowl. On the other end I use a heating pad, on the lowest setting, underneath the glass. Then I out a dish towel on the inside where the heating pad is. This keeps the snake from getting burnt.

Temperatures and Humidity:

I maintain a constent temp at the heating pad end of 84 degrees F. On the end of the tank where the basking light is I keep it about 88 degrees F. You always want a place without heat for the snake to cool down if it wants to. They will move where they need to .

Heating and Equipment:

One heating pad, a basking light 25 watt for smaller cages and 40-60 watt for larger cages

Caging Provided:

10 Gallon aquarium for smaller snakes. For larger snakes I reccomend a large cage with a live tree, or a branch. They will use this for shedding and they love to climb and explore.

Diet:

Carnivorous

Description of Diet:

You will judge the size of its food by the biggest part of it’s body so that it will go down with ease. Pinkies are normally used for baby snakes- 2 1/2 months old. I feed usuaully 2 at a time at this point 1 time a week.As they get older they will go from full grown mice to full grown rats! This is when you should knock out the rats, they will bite. This can cause some big trouble for your snake. It can cause mouth rot. This can kill your snake!

Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:

I do use a vitamin suuplement in the water. They love it!

Maintenance:

Keep the cage clean at all times. I change the sheet once a week. Keep fresh water in daily. Keep a close eye on your snake. Inspect it whenever possible for ticks areas that look funny, handle them daily, except 2 days after eating. Love IT!!!!!
